Iran Foreign Minister Salehi Visits Libya for Talks With Council

Nov. 3 (Bloomberg) -- Iran’s Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi headed to Libya today to hold talks with members of the National Transitional Council, the official Islamic Republic News Agency reported.

Salehi plans to say that Iran is ready to assist Libya’s reconstruction efforts, Hossein Amir Abdollahian, deputy foreign minister for Arab and African Affairs, told state-run Fars news agency earlier this week.

Abdollahian also said officials will discuss the case of Lebanese Shiite leader, Imam Moussa al-Sadr, an Iranian-born cleric who disappeared on a visit to Libya in August 1978.

Salehi left from Turkey, where he took part in an Istanbul conference on Afghanistan’s security, IRNA said.
