Indian Court Denies Bail to Lawmaker Kanimozhi in 2G Case

Nov. 3 (Bloomberg) -- An Indian court denied bail to Kanimozhi, a lawmaker of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s second-biggest ally, and seven others in a case related to the sale of phone licenses in 2008, Special Judge O.P. Saini said in an order in New Delhi today.

The court denied bail to Cineyug Entertainment chief Karim Morani, Kalaignar Television Managing Director Sharad Kumar, DB Realty Ltd.’s Asif Yusuf Balwa, Shahid Balwa and Rajiv Agarwal.

Bail pleas by former telecommunications minister Andimuthu Raja’s personal secretary R.K. Chandolia and former telecom secretary Siddhartha Behura were also denied, Saini said.

The court will start hearing arguments on charges on Nov. 11.
