Socceroos Recall Kewell, Emerton for World Cup Qualifying Games

Australia recalled Harry Kewell and Brett Emerton for this month’s soccer World Cup qualifying matches against Oman and Thailand.

Socceroos coach Holger Osieck, who omitted A-League recruits Kewell and Emerton for games against Malaysia and Oman last month, also included Aston Villa defender Chris Herd in the national squad for the first time today. Goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer returns from injury.

Australia, which leads Asian World Cup qualifying Group D with nine points from three matches, faces Oman in Muscat on Nov. 11 before playing Thailand in Bangkok four days later.
