Nov. 2 (Bloomberg) -- European Union Energy Commissioner Guenther Oettinger said Greek Prime Minister George Papandreou’s push for a referendum on a new bailout package for the over-indebted country is putting the euro “in even greater danger,” Die Welt newspaper reported.
The consequences of a Greek rejection would be incalculable and the situation has worsened significantly for euro countries that don’t enjoy the highest credit rating, Oettinger told the German newspaper in an interview published today. It’s still an “important goal” to keep Greece in the euro region, he said.
