Four Georgia Men Charged in Bio-Toxin Plot Against U.S.

Nov. 1 (Bloomberg) -- Four Georgia men were arrested and charged in a plot to buy explosives and produce ricin for attacks against U.S. government officials and personnel as well as civilians.

The four, aged in their 60s and 70s, were part of a militia organization and began participating in meetings of a “fringe” operations team starting around March, the Justice Department said today in a statement. They discussed making and using toxic agents and killings to undermine the government, according to the statement.

They also surveyed and discussed attacking federal buildings in Atlanta as punishment for “treasonous” activities, the Justice Department said.

“To carry out their agenda, two of the defendants allegedly purchased purported explosives and a silencer, while the other two defendants took steps to attempt to produce a deadly biological toxin,” Sally Quillian Yates, the U.S. Attorney in Atlanta, said in the statement.
