Nov. 1 (Bloomberg) -- Amyris Inc., a U.S. biotechnology company, has been approved a 22 million-real ($12.6 million) loan by Brazil’s national development bank, known as BNDES, for a facility that turns sugar cane into a raw material for fuel.

Amyris started producing so-called farnesene at the plant, located in Piracicaba, in the Brazilian state of Sao Paulo, earlier this year, the Emeryville, California-based company said today in a statement.
