Oct. 24 (Bloomberg) -- Mike Napoli’s tie-breaking two-run double in the eighth inning led the host Rangers to a 4-2 win against the St. Louis Cardinals and moved Texas one win from its first World Series championship.
Texas took a three-games-to-two lead and will have a chance to close out the best-of-seven series on Oct. 26 in St. Louis. If the Cardinals win that game, a decisive Game 7 would be played the next night in St. Louis.
Napoli’s decisive hit to right-center field off Marc Rzepczynski came after the Rangers loaded the bases with one out.
The Cardinals, who left 12 men on base in the game, scored two runs in the second inning on a pair of walks, an error and a single. The Rangers tied it up with solo homers by Mitch Moreland in the third and Adrian Beltre in the sixth.
