Peru Stocks: Cerro Verde, Minsur, Relapasa, Southern Copper Gain

The following companies had unusual price changes in Peru trading. Stock symbols are in parentheses and share prices are as of the close of trading.

The Lima General Index gained 1.5 percent to 18,897.41. The MSCI All Peru Capped Index rose 2.2 percent to 2,496.71.

Mining companies climbed as copper and zinc gained on signs of rising demand in China, the world’s biggest consumer of industrial metals.

Sociedad Minera Cerro Verde SA (CVERDEC1 PE), Peru’s third-largest copper producer, climbed the most in two months, rising 3.4 percent to $36.20. Minsur SA (MINSURI1 PE), the world’s fourth-largest tin producer, rose 3.5 percent to 2.69 soles, a two-week high. Southern Copper Corp. (SCCO PE), the nation’s biggest copper producer, rose 3.9 percent to $28.25.

Refineria La Pampilla SA (RELAPAC1 PE), the Repsol YPF SA unit known as Relapasa, rose 2.6 percent to a three-week high of 80 centimos.

Repsol will invest $800 million to produce cleaner fuel at La Pampilla, Peru’s largest oil refinery, Madrid-based Repsol’s Chief Executive Officer Antonio Brufau Niubo told reporters in Lima yesterday.
