Thailand Stocks: Hana, Hemaraj Land, Khon Kaen, Khonburi Sugar

Shares of the following companies had unusual moves in Thailand trading. Stock symbols are in parentheses and prices are as of the close in Bangkok.

The SET Index rose 2 percent to 955.81, the highest close since Sept. 23. The measure gained 5.1 percent this week, the largest weekly advance since November 2010.

Sugar producers: Sugar rose to the highest price in more than three weeks in New York on speculation floods in Thailand, the world’s second-biggest exporter, will delay the crop.

Khon Kaen Sugar Industry Pcl (KSL TB) climbed 4.5 percent to 11.7 baht and Khonburi Sugar Pcl (KBS TB) rallied 3.2 percent to 9.8 baht.

Hana Microelectronics Pcl (HANA TB), Thailand’s biggest semiconductor packager, advanced 2 percent to 15.6 baht, the first increase in five days. The company secured most of its equipment before floodwaters breached an industrial estate in Ayutthaya province, Chief Executive Officer Richard Han told Bloomberg Television today, adding that the company has insurance for business disruption.

Hemaraj Land & Development Pcl (HEMRAJ TB), a developer of industrial land, jumped 4.1 percent to 2.04 baht. The company’s six industrial estates are unaffected by flooding, it said in a regulatory filing today.

Quality Construction Products Pcl (QCON TB), a maker of concrete products, fell 1.2 percent to 4.94 baht, the lowest close since Sept. 29. Its plant in Ayutthaya has been closed by floods, it said in a statement to the bourse.
