Oct. 3 (Bloomberg) -- Mike Napoli hit a two-run homer and Josh Hamilton added a two-run single in the Rangers’ four-run seventh inning as Texas defeated the Tampa Bay Rays to take a 2-1 lead in their best-of-five American League Division Series.

The New York Yankees are playing at the Detroit Tigers tonight in Game 3 of the other AL Division Series, which is tied 1-1.

Rays starter David Price held the Rangers scoreless for six innings until Napoli’s home run. Texas starter Colby Lewis allowed just one hit in six innings, a home run leading off the fourth inning by Desmond Jennings, in the Rangers’ 4-3 victory at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida.

Jennings also hit a home run against reliever Mike Adams leading off the eighth inning for Tampa Bay, which scored its other run on a groundout in the seventh.
