Tonga Upsets France 19-14 in Rugby World Cup Pool A Match

Oct. 1 (Bloomberg) -- Tonga upset France 19-14 in a Rugby World Cup Pool A match in Wellington, New Zealand.

Tonga, ranked No. 13 by the International Rugby Board, scored a try against the fifth-ranked French through winger Sukanaivalu Hufanga. Fly-half Kurt Morath added four penalties and a conversion.

The victory lifted Tonga to nine points in Pool A, two behind France and six behind group leader New Zealand, which plays Canada tomorrow in the five-team group’s final match.

Australia earlier sealed a quarterfinal berth by beating Russia 68-22. England can secure top spot in Pool B by defeating Scotland in today’s last game.
