Vietnam’s Equities: Vung Tau Real, Southern Seed, Vinh Hoan

Aug. 26 (Bloomberg) -- Shares of the following companies had unusual moves in Vietnam trading. Stock symbols are in parentheses and prices are as of the 11 a.m. local-time close.

The VN Index, the benchmark measure of the Ho Chi Minh City Stock Exchange, advanced for a second day, climbing 0.7 percent to 404.41. The gauge rose 0.9 percent this week.

Southern Seed Corp. (SSC VN), a producer of crop seeds for farmers, gain 4.2 percent to 19,900 dong, the largest rally since Aug. 17. The company’s second-quarter net profit increased 52 percent to 27.4 billion dong ($1.3 million), it said in a statement filed on the bourse’s website.

Vung Tau Real Estate & Construction Joint-Stock Co. (VRC VN), which provides construction services, surged for a second day, jumping 4.4 percent to 9,400 dong. The company will pay its investors a 2010 dividend of 1,000 dong a share, according to a statement on the exchange. It will also buy back 500,000 shares from Sept. 7, the statement said.

Vinh Hoan Corp. (VHC VN), the second-biggest publicly traded seafood processor, increased 2 percent to 31,400 dong, the highest close since June 9. The company’s net profit jumped 92 percent to 127.3 billion dong in the second quarter, according to a statement on the exchange’s website.
