Aug. 18 (Bloomberg) -- Egypt’s benchmark EGX 30 Index advanced for a second day, gaining 0.4 percent to 4,747.17 at the 1:30 p.m. close in Cairo, the highest level in more than a week. The gauge gained 3.4 percent this week.

Abou Kir Fertilizers & Chemical Industries Co. (ABUK EY) climbed 1.4 percent to 242.5 Egyptian pounds, the highest level since November 2009. Egypt’s biggest publicly traded fertilizers producer said its profit for the year ended June 30 rose 15 percent to 1.35 billion pounds ($226 million).
Pioneers Holding (PIOH EY) gained as much as 2.7 percent before closing 0.6 percent higher at 4.89 pounds. The Cairo-based investment bank said its six-month profit surged more than fivefold from a year earlier to 55.7 million pounds.
