Malaysia Stocks: Ancom, Nylex, Sarawak Consolidated, Telekom

Shares of the following companies had unusual moves in Malaysia trading. Stock symbols are in parentheses and prices are as of the 5 p.m. local-time close in Kuala Lumpur.

The FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI Index fell 6.26, or 0.4 percent, to 1,551.91, the lowest close since June 14.

Ancom Bhd. (ANC MK), a chemical products maker, jumped 13 percent to 42.5 sen, the largest gain since January 2007. Ancom had a profit of 4.37 million ringgit ($1.5 million) in the fourth quarter ended May 31, compared with a loss of 267,000 ringgit a year earlier, it said in a statement.

Nylex (Malaysia) Bhd. (NYL MK), a manufacturer of vinyl-coated fabrics and other plastic products, advanced 6.8 percent to 63 sen, the most since May 25, after net income in the fourth quarter ended May 31 rose 55 percent to 7.28 million ringgit.

Sarawak Consolidated Industries Bhd. (SCIB MK) gained 1.5 percent to 66 sen, the highest close since Feb. 12, 2008. The stock rallied 86 percent yesterday. The property developer and building products supplier is unaware of any reason for the price surge, it said in a statement.

Telekom Malaysia Bhd. (T MK), the national fixed-line and Internet services provider, slid 1.2 percent to 4.02 ringgit, its steepest decline since May 24, after it was cut to “underweight” from “neutral” at HSBC Holdings Plc.
