July 20 (Bloomberg) -- The Guinean military backs the government of President Alpha Conde, General Souleymane Kelefa Diallo, said in comments broadcast by the state-owned Radio Television Guineenne a day after an unsuccessful attack on Conde’s house in the capital, Conakry.
“The situation is under control,” he said. A number of people were arrested after the attack, Prime Minister Mohamed Said Fofana said yesterday without providing their identity.
Guineenews.org, a privately owned website, said General Nohhou Thiam, the former army chief of staff, was taken into custody, without saying where it got the information.
