Spain’s IBEX 35 Index climbed 1 percent to 9,443.80 in Madrid. Portugal’s PSI-20 Index rose 1.6 percent to 6,664.80.
Bankia SA (BKIA SM) starts trading in Madrid after raising more than 3 billion euros ($4.2 billion) in an initial public offering pricing shares at 3.75 euros each.
Mapfre SA (MAP SM) said it has signed an agreement with Euler Hermes SA to create a credit-insurance joint venture to operate in Spain, Portugal and Latin America. The joint venture will have premiums of 200 million euros, based on 2010 figures, the Spanish company said in a regulatory filing in Madrid. The shares rose 1.7 percent to 2.40 euros.
