Georgia Holds Saakashvili’s Photographer for Spying: InterPress

July 7 (Bloomberg) -- Georgian police detained five photographers, including one who works for President Mikheil Saakashvili, on suspicion of espionage, InterPressNews said.

In addition to the president’s personal photographer, Irakli Gedenidze, and his wife Natia Gedenidze, other detainees include Giorgi Abdaladze, a Foreign Ministry photographer, and Shakh Aivazov, who works for the Associated Press, Tbilisi-based InterPressNews reported today, citing family members.

An AP employee in Tbilisi who declined to be identified confirmed Aivazov’s detention. Repeated calls to the Interior and Foreign ministries went unanswered this morning.
