July 6 (Bloomberg) -- The Indiana Pacers will introduce Frank Vogel as their new head basketball coach today, ESPN reported.
Vogel and President of Basketball Operations Larry Bird will hold a news conference at 11 a.m. at Conseco Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, according to the team’s website.
Vogel, 38, replaced Jim O’Brien in January as interim coach and directed the Pacers to their first playoff berth since 2006. The Pacers went 20-18 under Vogel and lost to the Chicago Bulls in five games in the first round of the postseason after finishing eighth in the Eastern Conference.
Vogel started his National Basketball Association career as a video coordinator for the Boston Celtics. He worked for the Philadelphia 76ers, Los Angeles Lakers and Washington Wizards before joining the Pacers as an assistant to O’Brien.
