South Africa to Nominate Manuel to IMF, Emerging Markets Says

South Africa will nominate former Finance Minister Trevor Manuel as a candidate to head the International Monetary Fund, Emerging Markets reported, citing an unidentified government official.

Manuel has the backing of President Jacob Zuma and an announcement is expected later today, which is the deadline for nominations, the newspaper said on its website.

Zuma’s spokesman, Zizi Kodwa, didn’t immediately respond to a text message seeking comment.
