Humala Brings Peru Growth With Social Benefits, Toledo Says

June 5 (Bloomberg) -- Peru’s former President Alejandro Toledo, who finished fourth in the first round of presidential elections April 10, comments on today’s election.

Toledo spoke during a press conference carried on Lima-based station America Television after a quick count of ballots said former military rebel Ollanta Humala would defeat Congresswoman Keiko Fujimori. Toledo backed Humala in today’s runoff.

“It’s the hour of reconciliation. The people have won, democracy has won, the memory of the people won. The people have opted for economic growth with social inclusion.

‘‘We are confident the new government will adhere to its promises. We will be jealous guardians of democracy.’’
