Iceland Divert’s International Air Traffic South on Eruption

May 21 (Bloomberg) -- Icelandic air traffic controllers have begun diverting international air traffic to fly south of the north Atlantic island, Hjordis Gudmundsdottir, spokeswoman for ISAVIA Ltd., told local broadcaster RUV. An ash plume from a volcanic eruption by Grimsvotn, underneath Vatnajokull Glacier, has now reached 50,000 feet.
