Dogan, Isbank, Migros, Turkcell: Turkey Equity Market Preview

The following stocks may be active in Turkey. Symbols are in parentheses and prices are from the last close.

Turkey’s benchmark ISE National 100 index fell 1,949.91, or 2.9 percent, to 64,585.22 on May 13.

Aksa Akrilik Kimya Sanayii AS (AKSA TI): The Turkish producer of acrylic and carbon fiber corrected first-quarter profit figures of 2010, saying net income rose to 42.5 million liras ($27 million) from 12.8 million liras in the same period last year, in a statement to the Istanbul Stock Exchange after the market closed on May 13. The shares gained 28 kurus, or 6.7 percent, to a record 4.44 liras.

Dogan Sirketler Grubu Holdings AS (DOHOL TI): The Turkish group with interests in media and energy said its first-quarter loss widened more than 20-fold to 199.9 million liras from 9.9 million liras a year ago, according to a statement to the bourse after the close on May 13. Dogan Holding dropped 3 kurus, or 2.6 percent, to 1.14 liras.

Koza Anadolu Metal Madencilik Isletmeleri AS (KOZAA TI): The Turkish miner’s first-quarter net income declined to 21.8 million liras from 295.3 million liras in the same period of 2010, according to a statement to the bourse after the close on May 13. Koza Anadolu fell 16 kurus, or 3.1 percent, to 5.08 liras.

Migros Ticaret AS (MGROS TI): The Turkish supermarket chain reported a first-quarter loss of 134 million liras from a profit of 58.8 million liras a year earlier, in a statement to the bourse. Migros dropped 70 kurus, or 2.9 percent, to 23.40 liras.

Turkcell Iletisim Hizmetleri AS (TCELL TI): Turkey’s biggest mobile-phone operator said tax authorities ordered a “precautionary seizure” of 1.3 billion liras ($810 million) worth of shares and rights owned by former chairman Mehmet Emin Karamehmet’s Cukurova Holding AS in Turkcell due to Cukurova’s unpaid tax debts, according to a statement to the bourse after the close on May 13. Turkcell fell 10 kurus, or 1.1 percent, to 8.86 liras.

Turkiye Is Bankasi AS (ISCTR TI): Turkey’s biggest listed bank by assets said first-quarter net income fell to 667.3 million liras from 914.1 million liras a year earlier, according to a statement to the bourse after the close on May 13. The bank was expected to earn 724.4 million liras, according to the average of seven analyst estimates compiled by Bloomberg. Isbank declined 16 kurus, or 3 percent, to 5.14 liras.
