Bruins Beat Flyers 7-3 to Win First Game of NHL Playoff Series

The Boston Bruins beat the Philadelphia Flyers 7-3 in the opening game of their National Hockey League Eastern Conference playoff series.

David Krejci had two goals and two assists to lead Boston, which got 31 saves from goalie Tim Thomas. Brad Marchand added two goals and an assist, while Nathan Horton, Mark Recchi and Gregory Campbell also scored for the Bruins.

Danny Briere picked up his seventh goal of the playoffs for the Flyers, who also got goals from James van Riemsdyk and Mike Richards at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia.

Later today, the Nashville Predators will try to tie their Western Conference series against the host Vancouver Canucks at one game each. The Canucks won the series opener 1-0 in Vancouver on April 28.

Yesterday, the Tampa Bay Lightning defeated the Washington Capitals 4-2 to take a one-game lead in their best-of-seven game Eastern Conference series and the San Jose Sharks beat the Detroit Red Wings 2-1 in overtime to win their Western Conference series opener.
