Thaddeus Young scored 22 points to lead the Philadelphia 76ers to a 115-90 victory over the New Jersey Nets and a spot in the National Basketball Association playoffs.
The 76ers join the Chicago Bulls, Boston Celtics, Miami Heat, Orlando Magic and Atlanta Hawks who have already advanced to the postseason from the Eastern Conference.
Besides Young, Philadelphia (40-36) had four other players scoring at least 13 points: Elton Brand, 21; Jrue Holiday, 17; Andre Iquodala, 14; and Lou Williams, 13.
The 76ers had a 60-43 lead at halftime at Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia. Brandan Wright led the Nets (23-52) with 15 points.
At Conseco Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, the Indiana Pacers beat Milwaukee 89-88 to hold on to the final playoff spot in the East, two games ahead of the Charlotte Bobcats and four ahead of the Bucks.
Danny Granger scored 17 points for Indiana (35-42), while Brandon Jennings was high scorer for the Bucks (30-45) with 20 points.
In the Western Conference, the Memphis Grizzlies, led by Zach Randolph’s 29 points and 10 rebounds, defeated New Orleans 93-81 to tie the Hornets for seventh place.
Tony Allen added 17 points for the Grizzlies (43-33) at New Orleans Arena. Carl Landry led the Hornets (43-33) with 19 points.
The Denver Nuggets (46-29) defeated the Sacramento Kings (21-54) 99-90, and the Portland Trailblazers (44-32) beat the Oklahoma City Thunder (50-25) 98-91 to strengthen their positions in the fifth and sixth spots in the conference.
The San Antonio Spurs, NBA champion Los Angeles Lakers, Dallas Mavericks and Oklahoma City Thunder have booked postseason places in the Western Conference.
