Toyota Resuming Japan Parts Production for Overseas Plants

March 21 (Bloomberg) -- Toyota Motor Corp. is resuming Japanese production of parts for its overseas assembly plants as it recovers from the March 11 earthquake, said a spokesman for the automaker’s European arm.

The Japanese carmaker, which has halted domestic vehicle assembly, is producing parts for its home replacement market and overseas vehicle assembly, Etienne Plas, a spokesman for the automaker’s European unit, said by telephone. The company is working to anticipate and avoid parts shortages at its European production lines, he said.
