Toshiba Corp., Japan’s biggest maker of nuclear reactors, said about 700 of its engineers have been assigned to help defuse the crisis at Tokyo Electric Power Co.’s crippled Fukushima Dai-Ichi power plant.
The Tokyo-based company is dispatching 100 workers to the site by today, spokesman Keisuke Ohmori said by telephone today. The No. 2 reactor was supplied jointly by Toshiba and General Electric Co., while Toshiba supplied the No. 3 reactor, according to Ohmori.
