Toshiba Assigns 700 Engineers to Work on Fukushima Nuclear Plant

Toshiba Corp., Japan’s biggest maker of nuclear reactors, said about 700 of its engineers have been assigned to help defuse the crisis at Tokyo Electric Power Co.’s crippled Fukushima Dai-Ichi power plant.

The Tokyo-based company is dispatching 100 workers to the site by today, spokesman Keisuke Ohmori said by telephone today. The No. 2 reactor was supplied jointly by Toshiba and General Electric Co., while Toshiba supplied the No. 3 reactor, according to Ohmori.
