Egypt Frees Brother of Bin Laden Aide Al-Zawahiri, MENA Says

March 17 (Bloomberg) -- Egyptian authorities released the brother of Ayman al-Zawahiri, the top aide to Osama bin Laden, the state-run Middle East News Agency reported today.

Mohammed al-Zawahiri was freed along with 59 other detainees, the Cairo-based news agency reported, without saying what he was imprisoned for. Since Feb. 1, Egyptian authorities have freed 1,659 people, including 755 political prisoners, MENA said.
