March 14 (Bloomberg) -- South African gold production fell 1.6 percent to 1.597 million ounces during the fourth quarter compared with the previous three months, the Chamber of Mines of South Africa said.
Compared with the fourth quarter of 2009, gold output fell 3.9 percent during the three months to Dec. 31, the chamber said in an e-mailed statement today.
Gold production during 2010 fell 6.4 percent from a year earlier, said the chamber, which represents producers including AngloGold Ashanti Ltd., Gold Fields Ltd. and Harmony Gold Mining Ltd.
