March 14 (Bloomberg) -- KKR & Co., the private-equity firm run by Henry Kravis and George Roberts, appointed former Alcatel-Lucent SA Chief Executive Officer Patricia Russo to its board of directors.
Russo, 58, will be the fifth independent director on the seven-member board, the New York-based firm said in a statement today.
KKR, which Kravis and Roberts created with Jerome Kohlberg in 1976, listed its shares on the New York Stock Exchange last year. The company’s other independent directors include former Morgan Stanley Co-President Robert Scully and Thomas Schoewe, the former Wal-Mart Stores Inc. chief financial officer .
Russo also serves on the boards of Alcoa Inc., Merck & Co., General Motors Co. and Hewlett-Packard Co.
