South Africa’s FTSE/JSE Africa All Share Index declined for a fourth day, losing 7.05, or less than 0.1 percent, to 31,820.37 at the 5 p.m. close in Johannesburg.
The following were among the most active stocks in the South African market today.
Bowler Metcalf Ltd. (BCF SJ): The plastic-packaging maker said first-half earnings for the period through December increased 32 percent to 46.2 cents per share. Bowler Metcalf was unchanged at 8.60 rand.
Sanlam Ltd. (SLM SJ): South Africa’s second-biggest insurer publishes earnings for the year ended December. Sanlam declined 35 cents, or 1.3 percent, to 27.50 rand.
Tradehold Ltd. (TDH SJ): The retail investment company said it will raise 650 million rand ($94.6 million) in a rights offer at a rate of 299 new shares for every 100 owned. The rights offer price will be 6.26 rand a share. Tradehold was unchanged at 7.50 rand a share.

(DROOY US) lost 2.2 percent to $4.85. Gold Fields Ltd. (GFI US) declined 1.2 percent to $17.59. Harmony Gold Mining Co. (HMY US) added 0.5 percent to $12.32. Impala Platinum Holdings (IMPUY US) dropped 0.4 percent to $29. Sappi Ltd. (SPP US) advanced 1.8 percent to $5.22. Sasol Ltd. (SSL US) lost 1.9 percent to $54.67.
