Feb. 21 (Bloomberg) -- Telefonica SA is among Spanish companies due to discuss a new industry group aimed at boosting the competitiveness of the economy.
WHAT TO WATCH: *Bank of Spain Governor Miguel Angel Fernandez Ordonez gives a news conference at 12 p.m. CET in Madrid to discuss new capital requirements approved by the government on Feb. 18.
ECONOMY: *Industry Ministry will release figures on country’s international trading in 2010. *Telefonica SA’s executives are among Spanish companies scheduled to hold a press conference at 1 p.m. CET in Madrid to detail a new industry group that will make proposals to improve the country’s economy.
EQUITIES: *Repsol YPF SA: Colombia suspended contracts for oil exploration in an archipelago in the Caribbean awarded to Repsol and Ecopetrol SA, Efe reported, citing a statement from the country’s oil regulator.
Separately, Repsol, BHP Billion Ltd. and Total SA said they will bid jointly for an offshore oil exploration block located in Trinidad and Tobago waters, Efe reported, citing an official in the country.
*Codere SA: The operator of bingo clubs and casionos published January operating data that showed net wins per day above their level in the year-ago month, according to a regulatory filing.
MARKETS: *The IBEX 35 Index retreated 0.4 percent to 11,068.1. *The spread between Spanish and German 10-year borrowing costs narrowed by 6 basis points to 212 basis points.
