Feb. 17 (Bloomberg) -- The following shares may have unusual price changes in Thailand’s stock market. Stock symbols are in parentheses after company names and prices are from the last close.
The SET Index rose 13.58, or 1.4 percent, to 982.07.
Bangkok Dusit Medical Pcl (BGH TB): Thailand’s biggest operator of private hospitals bought a 6.3 percent stake in Bumrungrad Hospital Pcl (BH TB), it said in a statement yesterday, without disclosing the value of the transaction. Bangkok Dusit shares rose 1 percent to 53.25 baht. Bumrungrad shares climbed 4.9 percent to 37.25 baht.
BEC World Pcl (BEC TB): The Thai television network operator said net income rose 25 percent to 3.3 billion baht ($108 million). The shares gained 0.8 percent to 30.25 baht.
Home Product Center Pcl (HMPRO TB): The nation’s biggest retailer of home improvement materials said 2010 net income rose 45 percent to 1.64 billion baht and announced a plan to pay a stock and cash dividend. The shares advanced 1.3 percent to 8.1 baht.
Siam Commercial Bank Pcl (SCB TB): The country’s fourth-biggest bank by assets said its board approved a plan to buy a 47.3 percent stake in Siam Commercial New York Life Pcl for 8.4 billion baht. The shares rose 3.6 percent to 101.5 baht.
Thaicom Pcl (THCOM TB): Thailand’s satellite monopoly reported a full-year loss of 788.9 million baht. The median estimate of eight analysts surveyed by Bloomberg was for a 683 million-baht loss. The shares rose 4.4 percent to 6 baht.
