Feb. 16 (Bloomberg) -- Stocks of the following companies had unusual price changes in Taipei trading. Stock symbols are in parentheses, and shares are as of the 1:30 p.m. close.
Taiwan’s Taiex Index fell 8.97, or 0.1 percent, to 8,712.96.
Dell Inc. suppliers: Quanta Computer Inc. (2382 TT) rose 1.8 percent to NT$56, the most since Jan. 10, while Compal Electronics Inc. (2324 TT) gained 1.4 percent to NT$37.
Dell, the world’s third-largest personal-computer maker, reported quarterly profit that exceeded analysts’ estimates after business customers replaced aging PCs and expanded their data centers. Quanta and Compal make laptop computers for Dell.
Sintek Photronic Corp. (3049 TT) surged 6.9 percent to NT$25.75, the highest level since Dec. 28. Sintek and Samsung Mobile Display Co. agreed to manufacture and supply display panels jointly, Sintek said in a statement to the Taiwan stock exchange yesterday. Hannstar Display Corp. (6116 TT), which owns about 19 percent of Sintek, according to Justin Chien, an investor relations spokesman for Hannstar, jumped 6.8 percent to NT$5.47, the most since May 26.
E Ink Holdings Inc. (8069 TT) jumped 5.5 percent to NT$57.70, the most since Nov. 25, after JPMorgan Chase & Co. raised the share-price estimate to NT$64 from NT$62.
