Feb. 12 (Bloomberg) -- Chris Smith and Peyton Siva each hit two free throws in the final 28 seconds to give the University of Louisville a 73-69 college basketball victory over Syracuse University.
Kyle Kuric scored 23 points and Preston Knowles added 22 for the Cardinals (19-6, 8-4 Big East), who had a 40-30 halftime lead at KFC Yum Center in Louisville.
Knowles’s 3-pointer with 15 minutes, 30 seconds left in the game put Louisville ahead 57-37. Syracuse fought back, narrowing the gap to 69-66 with one minute, 39-seconds remaining on Brandon Triche’s layup before Smith and Siva struck from the free throw line.
Triche had 21 points with Scoop Jardine scoring 20 points and C.J. Fair adding 11 for the Orange (20-6, 7-6 Big East), of Syracuse, New York.
