Feb. 9 (Bloomberg) -- US Airways Group Inc. will almost double its charge for each checked bag weighing more than 50 pounds (23 kilograms) to $90 starting March 1.
The policy brings US Airways’ fees in line with those of other airlines, a spokeswoman, Liz Landau, said today. The cost has been $50, according to the Tempe, Arizona-based company.
Oversized bags and those weighing more than 70 pounds now will cost $175, up from $100, the carrier said on its website. Those rates apply on flights within the U.S., Canada, Latin America and the Caribbean, with higher charges on other routes.
