Feb. 1 (Bloomberg) -- Ian Thorpe, Australia’s most-succesful Olympian, may announce a return to competitive swimming 17 months out from the 2012 London Olympics, the Australian Associated Press reported.
Thorpe, 28, will hold a news conference on his future tomorrow, AAP said, citing his manager, Dave Flaskas. Speculation that Thorpe will make a comeback increased last month after he was spotted training in a Sydney pool, AAP said.
Thorpe, who won 11 world titles and set 22 world records in a decade-long career at the sport’s elite level, quit in November 2006 saying he had lost the desire to compete.
