Blackburn Rovers defender Ryan Nelsen signed a one-year contract extention until the summer of 2013, the Premier League club said on its website.
Nelsen, 33, has made more than 200 appearances since joining Blackburn from D.C. United in 2005. He also captained New Zealand at last year’s World Cup in South Africa.
Nelsen’s deal comes one day after manager Steve Kean signed a new contract until June 2013. Kean was named interim manager in December after Sam Allardyce was fired and was then signed through the end of this season.
