Jan. 21 (Bloomberg) -- Justine Henin was knocked out of the Australian Open tennis tournament today by Svetlana Kuznetsova, losing 6-4, 7-6 (10-8) in a third-round match.
Henin, a seven-time Grand Slam champion and a finalist at the Australian Open last year, lost before the quarterfinals in Melbourne for the first time since 2001.
Henin, from Belgium, was the 11th seed this year. Kuznetsova, from Russia, is the 23rd seed.
