Vietnam’s Stocks: Hung Vuong Corp., Lam Son Sugar

Jan. 17 (Bloomberg) -- Shares of the following companies had unusual moves in Vietnam trading. Stock symbols are in parentheses, and prices are as of the 11 a.m. local-time close.

The VN Index, the benchmark measure of the Ho Chi Minh City Stock Exchange, gained 1.2 percent to 495.16.

Hung Vuong Corp. (HVG VN), which exports frozen basa fillet fish, rose 1.8 percent to 22,900 dong. The company has bought back 1.26 million shares, it said in a statement filed on the exchange’s website.

Lam Son Sugar Joint-Stock Co. (LSS VN), which manufactures sugar and alcoholic products, advanced 1.7 percent to 36,000 dong, the highest close since Dec. 13. The company plans to pay its shareholders a dividend of 2,000 dong a share in the first quarter, according to a statement on the bourse’s website.
