Jan. 17 (Bloomberg) -- The Netherlands’ AEX-Index fell 0.24, or 0.1 percent, to 361.08 at the 5.30 p.m. close in Amsterdam, after gaining 1.4 percent last week. Belgium’s Bel20 Index was almost unchanged at 2,621.42.
The following are among the most active stocks in Benelux markets today. Symbols are in parentheses.
ArcelorMittal (MT NA), the world’s biggest steelmaker, fell 0.5 percent to 26.98 euros. Nyrstar NV (NYR BB), the biggest zinc producer, declined 2.1 percent to 11.97 euros. Mining stocks fell amid concern global growth may be stifled by anti-inflation policies.
Batenburg Beheer NV (BATEN NA) surged 5.8 percent to 23.91 euros, extending a similar gain on Jan. 14. The Dutch provider of technical equipment and services said it rejected a possible takeover bid by an unidentified private equity company.
SBM Offshore NV (SBMO NA) surged 4 percent to 18.55 euros, the highest close since July 2008. The world’s biggest supplier of floating oil rigs had its recommendation raised to “buy” from “neutral” by BofA Merrill Lynch Global Research.
