Chilean Stocks: Banco de Chile, BCI, Empresas Copec and Sonda

Jan. 13 (Bloomberg) -- The following companies had unusual price changes in Chilean trading. Stock symbols are in parentheses and prices are as of 3:33 p.m. New York time.

The Ipsa index rose 1.2 percent to 4,938.93.

Banco de Chile (CHILE CC) rose 0.6 percent to 72.40 pesos, ending a three-day losing streak. Chile’s second-largest lender by assets posted preliminary 2010 profit of 379 billion pesos ($776 million), up from 258 billion pesos in 2009.

Banco de Credito e Inversiones (BCI CC) rose 2.4 percent to 34,300 pesos. Chile’s fourth-largest lender by assets posted full year 2010 preliminary profit of 222 billion pesos.

Empresas Copec SA (COPEC CC) gained 2.6 percent to 8,669.30 pesos, the largest increase in eight weeks. Chile’s largest pulp exporter plans to invest up to $1.1 billion this year, according to a presentation posted on the company’s website.

Sonda SA (SONDA CC) increased 1.7 percent to 1,210 pesos, the highest price since November 2006. Chile’s biggest information technology company secured a $180 million contract to provide a technological and financial administration system for Panama’s Metrobus public transport network, El Mercurio reported.
