Jan. 11 (Bloomberg) -- Greece’s benchmark ASE Index rose 14.72, or 1.1 percent, to 1,369.35 at the 5:20 p.m. close in Athens, paring the previous day’s decline.
The FTSE/ASE 20 Index of the country’s biggest companies advanced 1.8 percent to 636.02 today. The Cypriot General Index rose 0.7 percent to 965.62.
The following shares were among the most active in Athens trading today. Symbols are in parentheses.
Mytilineos Holdings SA (MYTIL GA) rose 3.4 percent to 4.31 euros, paring the previous day’s decline. Mytilineos’s Metka SA unit, Greece’s largest builder of power plants, and Ansaldo Energia SpA, a unit of Finmeccanica SpA of Italy, will add 750 megawatts of capacity to the Deir Ali plant south of Damascus. The two also plan to start adding 750 megawatts of generating capacity to the Deir Ezzor plant in eastern Syria this year, Syria’s Electricity Ministry said.
Metka’s shares added 0.7 percent to 9.55 euros.
