Jan. 10 (Bloomberg) -- Ford Otomotiv Sanayi AS, the Turkish venture of Ford Motor Co. with Turkey’s Koc Holding AS, increased its sales to about 8 billion liras ($5 billion) last year, from 2009’s 5.5 billion liras, Hurriyet reported, citing Ford Otosan Chief Executive Officer Nuri Otay.
The company maintained its leadership in the Turkish motor vehicle market for the ninth consequtive year with a 15.7 percent share in 2010, Otay said, according to Istanbul-based newspaper.
Ford Otosan aims to produce 250,000 cars and vans this year, after increasing its 2010 output by 40 percent to 242,000 units, Hurriyet quoted Otay as saying. The company raised exports by 37 percent to 177,000 units, valued at more than 2 billion euros in 2010, he said.
