Jan. 6 (Bloomberg) -- SLM Corp., the student lender known as Sallie Mae, appointed Jack Remondi president and chief operating officer, the company said in a regulatory filing.
Prior to taking over the newly created position, Remondi served as the company’s vice chairman and chief financial officer, according to today’s filing. Jack Hewes, senior executive vice president and chief lending officer, will leave the company Jan. 31, according to the filing.
Sallie Mae’s finance, treasury and accounting team will manage the company’s financial functions until a new chief financial officer is appointed, according to the filing.
Martha Holler, a spokeswoman for Sallie Mae, didn’t immediately return a phone call seeking comment.
