Indian Equities: Advanta, Midfield, Pratibha, Religare, Suzlon

India’s Bombay Stock Exchange Sensitive Index, or Sensex, fell 62.33, or 0.3 percent, to 20,498.72 at the 3:30 p.m. close in Mumbai. Shares of the following companies had unusual moves and stock symbols are in parentheses.

Advanta India Ltd. (ADV IN) advanced 5.5 percent to 411.8 rupees, the most since Oct. 21. The hybrid seed producing unit of United Phosphorus Ltd. had about 1.5 percent of its equity change hands in a single block transaction on the Bombay Stock Exchange, according to Bloomberg data. Buyers and sellers weren’t immediately known.

Garware Wall Ropes Ltd. (GWWR IN) gained 1.4 percent to 77.85 rupees, the highest since Nov. 24. The textile maker had about 2.1 percent of its equity changed hands in a single block transaction on the Bombay Stock Exchange, according to Bloomberg data. Buyers and sellers weren’t immediately known.

Hiran Orgochem Ltd. (HO IN) jumped 17 percent to 11.34 rupees, the highest since Nov. 3. The drug maker had about 2.3 percent of its equity changed hands in six transactions on the Bombay Stock Exchange, according to Bloomberg data. Buyers and sellers weren’t immediately known.

Midfield Industries Ltd. (MIDF IN) rose by its daily limit of 5 percent to 90.5 rupees, the most since Nov. 29. The maker of industrial packaging material had about 9.2 percent of its equity changed hands in four transactions on the Bombay Stock Exchange, according to Bloomberg data. Buyers and sellers weren’t immediately known.

Mount Everest Mineral Water Ltd. (MEM IN) climbed 1.6 percent to 88.45 rupees. The maker of natural mineral bottled water had about 4.4 percent of its equity changed hands in a single block transaction on the Bombay Stock Exchange, according to Bloomberg data. Buyers and sellers weren’t immediately known.

Pratibha Industries Ltd. (PRIL IN), an engineering company, increased 3.1 percent to 71 rupees, the highest since Nov. 21, after saying it won a contract from the Delhi Metro Rail Corp.

Religare Enterprises Ltd. (RELG IN) lost 2.5 percent to 456.05 rupees, the lowest since Aug. 20. The financial services group backed by Malvinder and Shivinder Singh had about 1 percent of its equity changed hands in two block transactions on the National Stock Exchange, according to Bloomberg data. Buyers and sellers weren’t immediately known.

Subex Ltd. (SUBX IN) advanced 1.6 percent to 84.9 rupees, the highest since Nov. 15. The telecommunications software maker had about 2.3 percent of its equity changed hands in a single transaction on the Bombay Stock Exchange, according to Bloomberg data. Buyers and seller weren’t immediately known.

Suzlon Energy Ltd. (SUEL IN) gained 2.7 percent to 55.65 rupees, the highest since Nov. 11, after television channel NDTV Profit reported that Spain’s Gamesa Corporacion Tecnologica SA may buy a majority stake in the company. India’s biggest wind-turbine maker doesn’t comment on market speculation, it said in an e-mailed statement.

UTV Software Communications Ltd. (UTV IN) surged 4.9 percent to 591.5 rupees. The media company backed by Walt Disney Co. had about 1.1 percent of its equity change hands in a single transaction on the Bombay Stock Exchange, according to Bloomberg data.
