Thailand Stocks: PTT Exploration, Thai Storage, Total Access

Dec. 24 (Bloomberg) -- Thailand’s SET Index rose 0.1 percent to 1,022.25 as of 10:34 a.m. local time, gaining for a fourth straight day.

Energy companies: PTT Pcl (PTT TB), Thailand’s biggest energy company, rose 0.6 percent to 321 baht. PTT Exploration & Production Pcl (PTTEP TB), the nation’s only publicly listed oil explorer, gained 0.6 percent to 168 baht. Crude oil posted its longest winning streak in six weeks, gaining for a fifth day in London after an increase in U.S. consumer confidence spurred optimism that fuel demand will increase.

Thai Storage Battery Pcl (BAT3K TB), the country’s only publicly traded maker of car batteries, fell 1.6 percent to 60 baht, a one-week low. Net income this year may be lower than last year because of higher raw material costs and delayed shipments to customers, the Kao Hoon newspaper reported, citing Executive Director Veerawat Korphaibool.

Total Access Communication Pcl (DTAC TB), Thailand’s second-largest mobile-phone company, rose 3 percent to 43.25 baht, the most since Oct. 11. State-owned CAT Telecom approved the company’s plan to expand trials of high-speed mobile-phone services in Thailand using 1,220 base stations, CAT’s President Jirayut Rungsrithong said.
