Dec. 22 (Bloomberg) -- Progressive Corp. will announce this week a car-insurance discount program that involves installing monitoring devices in vehicles to track distances covered, speeds and braking patterns, the Detroit News reported, citing Heather Day, a company spokeswoman.
Depending on the readings, drivers will be able to get discounts of as much as 30 percent, the newspaper said.
People opting for the program plug in the devices and get initial discounts after 30 days; final discounts are set after six months, the Detroit News said.
