Sempra Energy Boosts Output at Palomar Plant in California

Dec. 7 (Bloomberg) -- Sempra Energy, owner of the largest U.S. natural-gas distributor, restored electrical output at its Palomar Energy Center in southern California.

The 565.6-megawatt plant was operating at full capacity as of 3:15 p.m. local time today, the California Independent System Operator said in a report.

The unit had 70.6 megawatts idled at the same time yesterday in a planned shutdown, a previous report shows.

Sempra’s natural-gas-fueled facility is in Escondido, California, 30 miles (48 kilometers) south of San Diego. One megawatt can power about 800 typical U.S. homes.
