Dec. 8 (Bloomberg) -- Representative Frank Lucas, Republican of Oklahoma, has been selected to lead the House Agriculture Committee when the new Congress convenes in January.
Lucas, 50, will be the first Oklahoman to serve as chairman of the panel, the committee Republicans said today in an e-mailed statement. He was selected in a vote of the House Republican caucus.
“As a lifelong farmer from a diverse, agricultural state, I have lived the real-world challenges farmers and ranchers face across the country,” Lucas said in the statement.
