Dec. 7 (Bloomberg) -- Holly Corp. is trucking 8,000 barrels a day of crude to its Woods Cross refinery in Utah, according to a company spokesman.
Holly, owner of refineries in the U.S. Southwest, has been trucking crude to the plant for years, Neale Hickerson said in an e-mail today. The deliveries are not related to the shutdown of Chevron’s common-carrier pipeline last week, Hickerson said.
The shutdown has had no effect on the 31,000-barrel-a-day refinery’s operation or production rates, he said. The Dallas-based company’s Woods Cross plant is 9 miles (14 kilometers) north of Salt Lake City.
Chevron is completing the cleanup of the Dec. 1 crude oil pipeline leak in Salt Lake City, according to Mickey Driver, a company spokesman.
It was the second leak in six months on the 10-inch line, according to Lisa Harrison Smith, a spokeswoman for the Salt Lake City mayor’s office. The pipe was shut from June 12 to June 21 and the mayor’s office reported an estimated 800 barrels of crude leaked.
Chevron’s 49,000-barrel-a-day Salt Lake City refinery stores crude oil and continues to operate, but crude is being delivered by tanker truck, Driver said.
’No Impact’ at Tesoro
Tesoro Corp.’s 58,000-barrel-a-day refinery, which received supplies through the pipeline, has had “no discernible impact to operations, throughput or the facility’s ability to fulfill its supply commitments to customers,” Mike Marcy, a company spokesman, said in an e-mail today.
Operations at Silver Eagle Refining Inc.’s Woods Cross refinery are unaffected because it wasn’t supplied by the line, Cindy Gubler, an outside spokeswoman for the company, said in a telephone interview.
Flying J Inc.’s 30,000-barrel-a-day Salt Lake City plant was unaffected by the Chevron line shutdown because it is not served by the conduit, said Fred Greener, president of Big West Oil LLC, a subsidiary of Flying J that operates the refinery.
